How to Measure for Imperial Valance
Measure the Window Width
Measure the width of your window at the top, middle, and bottom of the window frame. Use the widest measurement in inches for the valance width.
Measure the Valance Length
Measure from the top of the rod to where you want the valance to end, typically 12–18 inches. Adjust the length as needed for your preferred style.
Additional Length for Side Panels (Optional)
If you're adding side panels, measure how far you'd like the fabric to extend on each side of the window. Add 2–6 inches on each side for a balanced look.
Determine the Rod Placement
If the rod isn’t installed, place it 4–6 inches above the window frame for a standard look, or higher for a different look, but remember to adjust length of valance accordingly.
Tip: Double-check your measurements in width by height (W x H) format to ensure accuracy.
