How to Measure for Ripple Fold / Roll Pleat Drapes
Step 1: Measure the Length - Drop
Measure from the bottom of the track glider to where you want the drapes to end.
- Window sill length: Measure down to the windowsill and subtract 0.4 inches for clearance.
- Apron length: Measure about 4-6 inches below the sill.
- Floor-length: Measure down to the floor and subtract 0.4 inches to prevent dragging.
- Full wall coverage: Measure from just below the ceiling down to the floor. Subtract 0.4 inches to keep the fabric off the ground.
- If your track isn’t installed yet, you can estimate about 6 inches above the window frame, or higher if you want full wall coverage.
Step 2: Measure the Width of Your Window
Measure the width of the window recess and add 4-8 inches on each side. This extra space allows the drapes to open fully without blocking the window.
Step 3: Measure Your Curtain Track
Measure the full length of the track from end to end. For ripple fold drapes, we recommend about 2 times the track width in fabric to create smooth, even waves.
Step 4: Double-Check Your Measurements
Take a few minutes to double-check all your measurements. Getting them right ensures your ripple fold curtains glide perfectly and hang just the way you want.
