How to Measure for Shower Curtains
Step 1: Measure the Length - Drop
If using rings, measure from the bottom of the ring to where you want the curtain to end.
If using a grommet top or rod pocket, measure from the top of the rod to the desired bottom point.
Then measure down depending on your preferred look:
- For a standard shower setup, measure so the curtain falls just inside the tub or shower base to keep water contained.
- For a floor-length style (outside the tub), measure down to about 0.4 inches above the floor to avoid dragging.
Step 2: Measure the Width of the Opening
Measure the full width of the shower or tub opening.
Add about 8–12 inches to the width to allow the curtain to gather slightly when closed.
For a wider, fuller look, you can multiply the width by 1.5 to 2 times depending on your preferred fullness.
Step 3: Double-Check Your Measurements
Always review your measurements carefully before ordering. Proper sizing ensures your shower curtain hangs correctly, looks beautiful, and works effectively in your space.
